Marketing in 30 Minutes? 3 Quick Wins for Home Builders and Remodelers

You may find this shocking, but most new home building contractors and home remodelers aren’t utilizing their websites to generate viable leads. Unfortunately, there is a stark reality between the number of possible leads generated each month and the percentage of contractors that can accurately track marketing ROI.

Cube Creative Design is an inbound marketing agency specializing in helping contractors and subcontractors in the new home construction and remodeling space. While we recognize that not all marketing initiatives can be performed immediately, to help you out, we have compiled a list of three quick marketing techniques that you or anybody on your team can implement in about 30 minutes.

1. Optimize your contact form

Have you ever went to fill out a form on a website only to find that the form is simply too long? Of course, first and last names are fine, but it sometimes feels like websites need to know everything about you short of your medical history just to get started. According to research, the shorter the form, the more likely you are to grab a lead. According to a Hubspot study, reducing form fields from four to three increases conversion rates by over 50%.

While most contractors can't get away with three fields on their “schedule a consultation form,” the concept remains the same. Remove unnecessary fields and make sure your form is simple and easy to use for people that fill it out. Make sure your contact us form does not include any information that you don’t need to know.

2. Get your SEO in order

For your website to be found on the search engines, such as Google, it must be discovered by all of them. Optimizing your website pages informs searchers and Google about the content of each page, who you are, and where you operate. The more people that discover you in the areas you service, the better off you will be.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) may sound intimidating. It’s not as bad as it sounds if you have help. Investing time in optimizing your website will pay benefits in the long run. If your website receives less than a handful of leads per month, chances are your target audience is having difficulty discovering you. The good news is that many optimizations can be completed quickly.

Take a look at the pages that receive the most traffic and views, then make sure:

  • Each page on your site has a title
  • Each page on your site has a meta description
  • All pages have an h1 tag (header)

The above list may take more than 30 minutes to complete, depending on the size of your website. If this is the case, set aside some time each day to browse your website. It will be worthwhile in the end.

3. Optimize Your Google My Business Profile

Google My Business (GMB) is a FREE tool from Google that helps businesses manage their online presence on the search engine results page, maps, and all of Google’sproducts. The objective is to make it simple for searchers to access verifiable information about your contracting business. It also allows the local search to be more accurate.

Updating your Google My Business page helps your small business rank higher On Google. It gives relevant, up-to-date information to individuals utilizing it to discover contractors. If you don’t have a Google My Business profile, visit our Google My Business support page, and we will help you claim your listing for free.

If you do have a Google My Business account but aren’t checking it regularly, start with these tips:

  • Make sure your information is current and up to date. Double-check your name, address, and operating hours. Also, be sure to check your business category and think about adding a second category if your business calls for it.
  • Add photos and videos.
  • Consider posting weekly. We have seen great success with clients who are posting weekly. Something as simple as information and links from your blog or a link to something of value and interest to your industry can go a long way.

While these three strategies listed above are excellent for people who are short on time, there is always more that you can do to improve your company's online visibility and create quality leads. Our staff works hard to provide you the most up-to-date information on anything from SEO to Facebook marketing for small businesses, new home building contractors, and home remodelers.
